About Us

Who are we?

We are a dynamic mother and daughter team, proud descendants of Te Whanau-a-Apanui and Ngapuhi. Following the loss of our beloved husband and father, we have returned to our roots along SH 35. In this journey of healing and connection, our cultural heritage plays a pivotal role.

My mother, who is not only our designer but also an accomplished weaver and artist, draws profound inspiration from the rich tapestry of our culture. From the intricate patterns of our tukutuku to the mesmerizing forms of kowhaiwhai, the art of kete whakairo, the significance of tamoko, and the depth of whakairo, her creativity finds resonance in every facet of our tradition.

As a mother and daughter deeply entrenched in our Maori heritage, we are dedicated to sharing our culture's beauty and wisdom with the world. Each creation we bring to life carries a piece of our lineage, a testament to the enduring history of our ancestors.

Our Vision?

Our intention is to generously share the wisdom we've learned throughout our lifetimes, recognising that when Maori individuals support one another, our community flourishes. "Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi" highlighting how the combined efforts of many lead to prosperity.

Our distinction lies in our commitment to sharing knowledge, ensuring sustainability, and fostering eco-friendliness in our endeavors. Simultaneously, we are resolute in delivering genuine, high-quality products that are accessible to you, respecting affordability. We persistently work towards achieving complete sustainability, with the aim of giving our children a brighter future.

Our journey is far from over, and there's so much more we have to share. We invite you to join us on this path of discovery.

Nga Mihi nui,

Florence and Ataaria Smith (mother and daughter)
